Primary Purpose
|
|
The primary purpose of this position is to support multilingual learners in developing English language skills and accessing grade-level learning. The ELD Instructional Paraprofessional works alongside licensed teachers and administrators to provide targeted small-group instruction, classroom support, and consistent routines that help students build confidence, language proficiency, and academic independence. This role contributes to a welcoming and structured environment where multilingual students feel supported and challenged while ensuring school systems and expectations are carried out consistently.

Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide targeted small-group and individual language support for multilingual learners under the direction of licensed ELD staff
- Assist with instruction in ELD classes and support students during push-in services in core content classrooms
- Reinforce language development strategies, vocabulary instruction, and comprehension supports aligned to provided curriculum and teacher guidance
- Help implement schedules and service plans for multilingual learners as directed by ELD staff and administration
- Support student engagement, participation, and organization to help multilingual learners access grade-level instruction
- Assist in monitoring student progress, language development, and classroom performance, and communicate observations to supervising staff
- Help prepare instructional materials, visuals, and scaffolds that support language acquisition and content access
- Support implementation of accommodations and testing procedures for multilingual learners as directed
- Reinforce schoolwide expectations, routines, and behavior supports to ensure a calm and productive learning environment
- Build positive relationships with multilingual students that balance high expectations with consistent encouragement and support
- Collaborate with teachers, ELD staff, and support personnel to ensure consistent supports for students across classes
- Supervise students in assigned settings, including transitions, small-group spaces, and school activities connected to the ELD program
- Participate in relevant trainings, meetings, and professional learning connected to multilingual learner supports and school procedures
- Follow district and school policies/procedures
- Supervise students during assigned duties and activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
|
- Applicants must hold a high school diploma or a GED
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
- Successful experience in a K-12 school setting preferred
- Hold an active substitute license with CDE (district will pay for this process)
- A strong commitment to serving the unique strengths, needs, and aspirations of Lake County students.
